There are a number of different ways, and I'll mention a few. You could use one of the software packages that are available, such as Photoshop Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. However, what you'll find with these software packages is that they handle the operations of editing in terms of layers, and their ease of use would mean that you'd be very comfortable with them. Plus, they're really quite expensive for what little work it does!

The best way is by using programs like Photoshop Elements or even Paint Shop Pro. These programs will allow you to manipulate the images that you have in layers. If you want to change a couple of colors, a few objects, or even an entire image then just select the image and click on the Properties. You will then be able to view all of your changes in a pop-up window. By doing this programmatically you will be able to change your image without having to learn how to stretch an image.

Another option that is easy to use, and much more powerful than Photoshop, are the Photoshop Flash plugin. This way you can stretch your image without ever touching the computer itself. It's similar to Photoshop's standard functionality, in that you can manipulate your image, remove red- eye, add effects, and so forth but there's a limit on the number of things you can do at once. But if you want to make alterations, then all you have to do is click and drag your mouse to where you want to stretch your image. In terms of flexibility, it beats Photoshop Flash hands down.

Learning how to stretch an image without Photoshop is not very hard to do if you just remember to do a couple of different images first. Keep practicing until you get comfortable with the process and before long, you'll start to stretch any image you want.
